Being an 'A'
GRADE artiste at All India Radio, Chennai, since 1993,
Sankari has had the privilege of performing in the prestigious
Akashvani Sangeeth Sammelan in
the year 2000 at Kolkotta. Apart from regular concerts, she
has been giving thematic presentations like "Thirupavai", "Divyanama
Keertanas", "Divya Prabandham" etc.
Sankari has rendered National Programmes
in Doordharshan. Her performances are also telecast by CPC (Central
Production Centre) Doordarshan New Delhi. As part of the 25th
Anniversary Celebrations of Doordarshan, Chennai Kendra, she
had the opportunity to perform alongside the great maestro,
Dr.M.Balamurali Krishna. Besides,
she has been featured in various private channels like SUN TV, JAYA TV, RAJ TV, MAKKAL TV etc.
Sankari has also had the rare privilege of rendering special
Veena & Voice concerts alongside
Dr. Karaikudi S. Subramanian,
at many places in India, Germany and Finland. This concept is a rewarding experience as it
poses challenges to the sensibilities in the tonal production.
In August 2008, Sankari Krishnan had the rare privilege of being the only Indian Musician to be invited for the International Musicians’ Residency Programme near New York in the United States of America.
Sankari skillfully interacted with other top musicians from the US, Germany, Serbia, Russia, Taiwan, Columbia, Kosova, Sweden, Mexico, Scotland and Netherland and they were successful in presenting two concerts after the residential programme. During the course of the Residency, Sankari’s depiction of South Indian Classical Music in her lecture-demonstration cum music workshop to fellow musicians was highly appreciated and kindled in them a desire to learn Carnatic Music.
